I'm Mattie's dad, and only parent, Rich
When my wife Lisa passed away in 2016 after a long battle with cancer, I realized that I needed to help, guide, support, encourage and love both of my kids. That needed to be my focus and my job. Lauren was 15 and Mattie was 11.
Lauren has successfully launched herself into an interior design career with Gresham Smith in Jacksonville, after graduating at the top of her class at Florida State University. Go Noles!
And now we have Matthew. So here it is in a nutshell...As Mattie's dad, my job right now is to help him:
- FInd vocations or jobs that he enjoys
- Learn about the possibilities for work, college, life etc
- Help him find the level of independence that is Mattie. Whatever that level is, it's my job to help find it and equip him as much as I possibly can.
- Learn life and people skills.
- And help make sure that Mattie's BEST LIFE is still in front of him!
This program does not have a blue print. We're learning as we go. I'm not an expert in this, I'm just a dad who sees the potential in his son and I'm trying my best to help Mattie be all he can be. My goal is for him to learn, grow & have fun!

Here's the bottom line...We're trying to expose Mattie to as many vocations and situations as possible.
